Newbie, diyer. I installed vertical shiplap paneling on a wall and there are gaps near the window where I had to cut around the casing. How would you fill large gaps there?

How much do I overlap the tar paper? Is there a certain way to start the the second layer of tar paper? (- thinking about how the two layer line up). How do you secure the tar paper - screws, nails, staples? I assume I don't have to tape. Thanks for making this video!

I'm kind of in a similar situation. I've got termite damage on exterior walls and will probably be removing some studs, top/bottom plates. On the exterior side of the wall, there is no OSB. Its ridged foam insulation board attached to the studs then brick veneer on the other side of the foam board. Apparently, that was ok to do for a few years. Honestly, I'm glad its foam board b/c termites aren't interested in eating that. But the complication with this is I'm gonna have to cut the nails or adhesive loose that holds the foam board to the studs. Was thinking about taking the multitool route but not sure how much mileage I'm going to get from the multitool blades before they're shot.

Mike, you failed! You needed to discuss the proper horizontal positioning of the hinge. Should the pivot pin be centered in the gap? Should it be more on the post side? It makes a big difference. No subscribe here.

Hi! Thank you for sharing. I'm going to do this. I'm not clear on the food scrap specifics. Do you lay food scraps and then spawn and then food scraps again, etc? Or did you just dump a bunch of food scraps and fill up the container and mix in some spawn? Do you have very dry food scraps? Does it matter? Also, have you ever have a batch spoil? Thanks in advance!

Awesome. Hold and reverse worked to release the bit from the chuck. Previously I took it to a workshop and the charged me $50 - saying they had to disassemble the whole thing. (I bet they would have known this method and charged me like scoundrels.) This time I decide to disassemble myself, only to find it gets you nowhere. Then I found this video. Thank you so much. I wrapped a cloth around the chuck and gripped with vice grips. Worked a treat.

I am building stairs soon in a tiny house that will go to a lofted area. I would like to have storage under the stairs. A mix of drawers and cabinets. Can I build them our of all plywood? Stringers too? How can I have a stringer on the outer portion of the stairs if most of it would need to be cut out for storage?

I applaud you for your efforts and trying to use and recycle reclaimed items. But your 3 inch supports are lacking and actually quite dangerous. You did put quite a lot of thought into it with the glass expansion and contraction. However the weight distribution is off and shift can cause an explosion of glass. I am hoping it is safety glass, which I imagine you would not be using if it was not. The problem here is the lift forces with wind. your structure has to be anchored down. Collapse is not as big of an issue as lift and blow off the house. I am only critiquing this as I would hate for someone to DIY a sunroom with glass and experience a dangerous shatter and injury due to possible collapse or wind lift. If this was a screened in room I would have refrained from commenting but the glass took my fear to a whole new level. But I do commend you for your efforts, you did put a lot of thought into it.

Awesome! You guys are doing rad things! Just a comment about the tree I.D, it's called Palo de Arco here (Latin name Tacoma stans) and is not the same as Pau D'Arco (famous medicinal). Probably doesn't make a wit of difference, Tecoma stans isn't toxic and probably is also medicinal, but in case someone is watching who lives in the region. Saludos!

If Milwaukee had the integrity to keep the same guarantee acriss the world it would be a start. If they provided a way of repairing broken units it would make them at least as good as Makita or Dewalt. Until they do that they will always be second best.

I've used painters tape to mask off the surrounding surfaces to facilitate straight line and also prevent the extra caulk. Probably not an issue though with smaller gaps.
